The Internet sometimes make us forget that there’s a person on the other end, reading your commentary.

This is a reminder.

Obama’s first State of the Union address of his second term! And…dammit to hell. NOT THIS AGAIN.

I guess Obama’s incredibly emotional speech about how “Gabby Giffords deserves a vote. The families of Newtown deserve a vote. The families of Aurora deserve a vote.” on guns and gun control REALLY pissed a few people off:

My interpretation of the Second Amendment; it is an individual right, not a corporate right, no related to a militia, you have an individual right to own a weapon both for recreation–for hunting– and also for your self-protection. But, just as you don’t have an individual right to by an F-15, if you’re a billionaire, with ordinance on it, just like you don’t have the right to buy an M1 tank, just like you don’t have the right to buy an automatic weapon, those judgements have been made that there are no reasonable societal justifications or constitutional justifications for owning them. There is no sporting need that I’m aware of to have a magazine that holds 50 rounds, none that I’m aware, and I’m a sportsman.

afixcalledinnocence:

I really had this conversation last night. I have never met anyone cruel enough to quite literally say “Fuck people in need!”.

Yeah. Wow.

There are levels of conservatives. There’s the top tier, who have a set of deeply-held conservative ideological beliefs. They just have a totally different view of what the role of government is than I do. I can respect that. I don’t agree, but I can respect an ideological difference.

Then there are a few levels with the hardcore religious people (eh), people who are only conservative about fiscal issues (blech), people who think there should be no government at all (ugh), and then the pundit-spouting blowhards and conspiracy theorists.

And so we come to the lowest tier of conservatism (and very possibly humanity). These are the people who hate all the evil poors and non-white people and non-Christians and post rants about how Obama is reading a nonfiction book written by a brown person THEREFORE DISGRACE!!!

So yeah. You have at least two Facebook friends on that lowest tier. You have my sympathies, OP.

Why Black People Will Never Be Taken Seriously In Hollywood

nukirk:

nukirk:

Note: I posted this within a group on Facebook. Basically, it’s to an article called are the Oscars the kiss of death when it comes to black people. Here’s my response to it.

Thing about acting is… it’s suppose to “convince you” that this could happen. From the “outside looking in” (a white person looking at a black actor), black people are thought of as simple characters by the general masses (white people). However, that’s not the only problem.

Another problem is that, black people are a victim of our own standards. For example, there will never be another Cosby show or “A Different World”. We want to be diverse. When we get a drama series, it’s too “negative” and “doesn’t reflect the real us”, which while true, is also stupid as well. The only time when dramas and real good acting gigs get tested and have a strong series are when they are on premium channels (HBO or Showtime). On the major networks, it’s a kiss of death for the same reason… the general masses can’t relate.

Which brings me to “Red Tails”. It has an all black cast and Lucus tried to promote it as an action movie, not just a “black movie”. But guess what? People think he was trying to guilt us into watching the movie and “What About Our Daughters” launched an all out effort to NOT support the movie because of this, as well as a lack of female actors. So… we finally get an action movie… not a comedy, with a major producer behind it and we are putting it down before it’s even released? We have no sense of unity at all when it comes to these types of things.

Sure, it’s movies and entertainment. But we’re outnumbered. No one wants to see what we’re like other than what they think we’re like… and if it’s not anywhere near what white people THINK we’re like, it will not work. After all, we have to adhere to real life rules and regulations. Hell, we even need to think about how we name our kids.

So, black people are a complex matter, not only when getting cast for Hollywood, but also within the community. We are our own trap at times. And that’s sad.

Reposting because… I didn’t know I wrote this. At all.

FYI: This was posted before the release of Red Tails. This is not a review of the movie, just an opinion about how the media chooses to cover the marketing of it.

I have yet to personally watch it.

Insane Clown Posse and “Juggalos/Juggalettes” are classified by the FBI as a “gang”

For those who don’t want to watch the video, here’s the synopsis of it:

ICP’s fans who are called “Juggalos/Juggalettes” are listed by the FBI’s list of National Gang Threat Assessment, classify Juggalos as a “loosely-organized hybrid gang” whose transient nature makes them difficult to monitor effectively, and stated that certain subsets of the subculture engage in criminal activity and violence. (source)

In short, wearing merchandise from Psychopathic Records, blasting their music, or having a tattoo of their logo means you’re part of a gang and you should be treated as a threat on sight. And they are suing the FBI.

So, basically… they are being judged by what they wear, what they listened to, and the tattoos that they are wearing.

The majority of these fans are mostly white.

Hmmm… why does all this sounds familiar?

Oh, and they say “ninjas” alot in this video. It’s their way of saying the n-word… to a bunch of White people.

This got to be the saddest and most ironic video we ever seen.

Quick Thought: Checks and Balances

We won’t mention their blog, but there’s a blog that’s “anti-social justice”, trying to prove that social justice blogs are non-productive and just plain stupid.

They tease the use of pronouns, body positive message, LGBT, gender roles and so on… mostly in a negative light.

Alright… we see your point. Now here’s ours…

(BTW, We don’t claim to represent the SJ community. This is our opinion.)

… variety of the spice of life. We could mention your name and debate with you, but we choose not to because it’s a waste of time. We learn years ago not to engage in pissing matches with your type.

It’s one thing not to agree with people (you don’t have to agree with how people view themselves) it’s another thing to totally disrespect them by saying “we must keep things the way they are!”

It’s called “having a relationship with people”. It’s called… for a lack of a better term… giving a fuck. Some people don’t want to give a fuck. That’s fine. You can play in the sandbox over there.

There’s a reason why SJ blogs exist and that’s to challenge the way things are! We’re not here to feed into the commercialism of society standards (set by old White men and uphold by their sons and daughters) just to please you and give you nothing to talk about other than the next iOS device you think the world can’t live without.

Some of us are tired of seeing things through “normal glasses”.

“Racism is racism” you might say. Yes, hate is hate. But some people’s hate are more justified than others, thanks to a system of checks and balances called the government and policies. What we’re talking about is wait ahead of what you’re thinking about.

“The only people who are qualified to talk about racism are people who experienced racism? That’s bullshit!” You said.

Why yes… if you (the White general public) could just listen and comprehend for yourselves, you might learn something. And as much as we want to give you some examples, that’s not the reason why we’re writing this.

We’re writing this because there are checks and balances everywhere. There’s no need for your anti-SJ blogs. Why?

Because society is already anti-social justice.

Quick News: How to Tweet Your Dreams Away

Translation: With so many Africans in Greece .. At least the mosquitoes of West Nile .. will eat homemade food!

This tasteless joke got her expelled from the Olympics.

She had an opportunity to delete it before it went to far…

Papachristou’s initial reaction to the negative comments, on Tuesday, was to tweet: “That’s how I am. I laugh. I am not a CD to get stuck!!! And if I make mistakes, I don’t press the replay! I press Play and move on!!!”

Her attitude changed completely Wednesday and she posted six apologetic tweets in less than two hours. The last tweet, a long one in English which she has also posted on her Facebook account, expressed “my heartfelt apologies for the unfortunate and tasteless joke I published on my personal Twitter account. I am very sorry and ashamed for the negative responses I triggered, since I never wanted to offend anyone, or to encroach human rights.

She must have cried enough White tears for Africans to use as lotion.

About

Avatar Racism is a construct that White people benefit from, knowingly or unknowingly. You're benefiting from what you do not know. I'm here to scatter your reality. (All POVs are spoken from a US perspective. This blog is very Pro-Black, which does not mean "Anti-White".)
