I’m so sick of people white people complaining about being lumped together.
Aww you don’t like to think of yourself as a monolith? How sad.
Welcome to my world. A lovely place where I am never seen as a individual. I am an ambassador to my race, only if I “misbehave” of course. When POC behave poorly we’re just doing what POC do. When we do well, we’re an exception to the rule.
The only time I will lump white people together is when I discuss white privilege. Whether you acknowledge your privilege or not you will benefit from it.
Do we really think that the average white person acknowledges and fully understand what white privilege is? Same goes for any other kind of privilege.
By design privilege makes people blind to privileges that they have. So I do not expect ANYONE, white, cis, able-bodied, hetero, etc to be fully aware of their privileges. If you are you are an exception to the rule that fosters ignorance.
