Q:I'm not even white. I'm Oriental. We also hae been fucked over by whites. The truth is though, white imperialism fucked everybody over, but they essentially did the very same to themselves. Do you know why the north was okay with abolishing slavery at the time? Because they had an influx of Irish, Italians, Germans, and Slavs coming in at the same time. They didn't need blacks. What I am really trying to say here, is that two wrongs will never make a right. Why not try to be righteous?

In order for me to show mercy, the same must be shown to me.

So far, none has been shown.

No long explanation is needed for that.

Q:Have you ever thought that you, yourself, are racist? If you want white people to be more accepting and then instantly call out white guilt/"oh do you want a cookie for being a decent human?" when they try being more accepting, doesn't it seem like really counterproductive? Are some whites assholes? Fuck yes they are, but so are some Hispanics, and some Asians, and some blacks, etc. I don't at all think you are a bad person, but check your own morals, before attacking others.

Anonymous

Everytime I post something up, I think I just might be racist. Everyday, I think “what’s the least racist thing I can do? I know, how about not mentioning race at anytime today?”

I wish I can walk down the street without thinking like this:

What’s the best way to avoid the cops, not because I committed a crime, but more so they don’t harass me? Should I wear a suit? No… they will think I’m a Muslim. Should I wear a hoodie? No, Trayvon Martin.

Which street do I take to avoid bringing attention to myself? If I walk through this neighborhood, do I walk at a normal pace? Do I look at the houses? How long can I stare at something and admire before it becomes to creepy?

Should I help that person? Should I speak up? Should I shut up? Should I state what’s on my mind? Should I tell that child “you should respect your folks”? Should I make them respect me or should I get walked over?

Yeah… I’ve done a LOT of moral checking every single fucking day of my life. All of this so I don’t become “that story”.

So, maybe, just maybe… before you call me out for “white guilt” and “check my morals”, walk a mile in someone else’s shoes.

Wait, you can’t, can you? Because that would be putting on a costume that you can take off. That would then mean you’ll know what it’s like for a day.

I know what it’s like since I was born.

So don’t tell me about morals.

Q:This was posted on a forum that I visit and I wanted to get your impression of it. "Countdown To George Zimmerman Getting Big Black Cock Begins."

black-wade

Sounds like a “sad yet true” fact.

Is it offensive? Yes, because chances of that happening is extremely high. The incarceration rate for Black men is very high and while I am not one to advocate for rape jokes, it just might happen.

Am I offended by the stereotype? Yes. Am I going to say my piece on it? No. I’ll just not partake in that conversation.

Q:I saw your post on "Oppression Olympics" but the phrase reminds me of ppl saying no one in USA faces bad living conditions because the government is a superpower. Here is what I saw on a blog Jing-Xu Lee today, "99% of americans will NEVER experience anything bad.(Which isnt a bad thing)Yet they.. get upset about receiving a decent education or get depressed about having a hardworking job that pays "Only $7 an hour" [while other countries suffer civil war, genocide, natural disaster, etc]"

Anonymous

In the future, I need to see a reference link. It will help to counter point.

However, it seems that when it comes to “never experience anything bad”, I do wondered what is “bad”. Because bad is different per person. I wish I can compare myself to people living in other countries, (which by the way civil war, genocide and disease are manmade problems and most of these problems are caused by Westernized thinking) but I will keep the focus on the US.

If we compare ourselves to people in the other countries, MAYBE we’re better off than some people. But then again, what is bad? Is bad not having a boosting economy just above 1 million dollars? Maybe money is not important in some parts of the world. But that’s just me being uneducated about these things. And it’s not that I want to be uneducated, it’s just that it’s not a focus of mine.

At times, I think I am lucky to be in the US, where if I was to place myself in another country with my skill set, I probably wouldn’t exist… well, maybe I will exist, but not as some web designer. However, that doesn’t mean I should be compliance either.

As far as government being a “superpower”, I don’t want to depend on the government for much, if at all. The government is not a “them”, it is a group of regular people I don’t trust because they are have NO IDEA what they are doing.

If it was up to me, I would rather have the government run by technicians and problem solvers. Because logically, there’s a problem, we would use logic to fix the problem and then the problem would disappear and balance itself out until another problem occurs. But we don’t have that. What we got? We got people who don’t know how the real world works, think small minded about the universe and would vote with their feelings and agendas over what’s for the greater good.

Here’s an example: it’s easier for me to get a gun than it is for me to get a driver’s license. But on the same token, it’s harder for me to prove that the gun is there for my protection if the gun is ever used (which is why I am personally anti-gun. I don’t have any guns on me and will never own a gun. I may own non-projectile weapons.) They claim to be “pro-small business”, but it’s harder for me to chase after people who owes me money. It’s hard for me to pay my fair share of taxes, but it’s harder for the government to tell me what they use my taxes for. At the same time, while they say I can petition the government for anything, they do have a right to refuse questions, such as where my taxes goes. It’s simple to say “let’s raise the minimum wage,” but then it’s hard to hear these politicians saying “it will drive people out of business”.

Government caused most of the problems that the USA is currently facing. And to change simple laws require a massive push. Government is controlled by the ones who make the money.

So, I don’t trust the government. And just because I voted for President Obama doesn’t automatically means I won’t question him because I do, just as much as I have done with all the Presidents before him.

Please come forth again, but use the submit link. If you don’t want to disclose your ID, make sure to tell me so I will protect you.

Thanks.

Q:Hi, nice blog you got there. If you feel oppressed in a white man's country then have you ever considered relocating to a non-white country? I guarantee than if you lived in, let's say, Africa for a year then your life will become ten times as worse and you will learn to appreciate the difference between harmless racism and third-world conditions created by power-hungry warlords. Think about it, will ya?

oppressed-white-man

I don’t need to “think about it”. By the time I finished reading this ask, I already got an answer for you.

I’m going to break down your own words and show you why even your wording is stupid.

If you feel oppressed in a white man’s country then have you ever considered relocating to a non-white country?

First off, you assumed that this is a “White Man’s Country”. The closest I can think of is a “Christian Nation” since White people don’t like to think of themselves as “White”.

This is not a “Christian Nation”, but a nation of immigrants. (Didn’t you learn US History?) White people are NOT natives here, they killed the natives off. I’m only a native of America because I was born here. If my mother never left Guyana, I would have been born there. Yes, I am born of a direct native of another country, so I can say that’s a possibility.

And yes, Guyana is “non-white” country.

But wait… let us wait until the next statement…

I guarantee than if you lived in, let’s say, Africa for a year then your life will become ten times as worse and you will learn to appreciate the difference between harmless racism and third-world conditions created by power-hungry warlords.

Second, (and for the millionth time) Africa is not a country. Africa is a Continent, which is made up of countries. Do you know why people call this country “the United States of America”? Because if people simply call it “America”, then the next question would be “which part? North America, South America, Latin America?” And please do not tell me “There’s only one America” because that would show your ignorance.

But then again… which part of Africa are you talking about? Ghana? I have friends that want to go to Ghana (one of them went as part of studying abroad and they loved it! She wished she can stay there, but her family and life is here.). South Africa? They got problems, but not warlord problems.

Oh, you must mean a place where Joseph Kony is/was (I’m not sure if he’s dead or alive and I don’t wanna research this part at the moment because it’s besides the point.). Well, “Africa” is not without it’s problems. But can you guess who caused those problems?

White men. Or better yet, corporate greed. It’s greed, the one of the seven “deadly sins” is what created these “warlords”. It’s also a combination of trade agreements that benefits these corporations… who are owned by White men.

While it’s easy to say “why not go there and wake people up”, there’s a mental conditioning that makes it close to impossible. There’s too much going on to make a simple case about it… and one I will not attempt to make.

However, let’s get back to your straw man’s logic and tactic, which you talk about “harmless racism”…

… Now, there’s an oxymoron if I ever heard of one. What is “harmless racism”? You want an excuse to be ignorant of other people or do you just want your life to be easy by not having to select your words carefully?

I’m going to assume the latter, because ignorance can’t be your agenda… after all, you’re “oppressed” right? So you must be informed.

Here’s a secret… there is no such thing as harmless racism. To indicate that racism is harmless is to show that you are ignorant to the plight, laws, restrictions, regulations and any kind of “ions” against People of Color.

So therefore, you are ignorant by choice, not by default (which is the point of this blog: to talk about ignorance by default.)

However, I won’t waste your time with examples, as this blog clearly showcases a lot of answers for you.

However, I will say this… most of the time, White people want to be viewed as “normal”. They want to be viewed as such because we (PoC) get reminded every single day that being White is superior, so saying “White” isn’t suppose to be part of the agenda here! Even if you are “losing your liberties” on a daily basis, lazy White man will get ahead better than the most productive, cost-effective, by the book Black man mostly because society is trained to look at White as “good, conservative” while Black as “evil”.

It’s not even about the “looks” here, but at this point, I think I overstated everything that is wrong with your ask.

But let’s go back a bit and ask the question you might have asked if you’re not so ignorant; if Guyana is so great, why did my mother moved to America? After all, they are overrun by Warlords, right (well, according to your logic)? Actually, they want more opportunity. They were sold on the “American Dream”. Little do they know that it’s the “White Dream” until they got here.

It’s amazing what tourism marketing can do, huh?

But hey… even with all the prejudices we faced… she still managed to make it better than most White men who joined the Military and couldn’t get help because they are blinded to another thing. What thing? Something called “fighting for our freedom”… whatever that is.

P.S. - I find it ironic that someone who’s writing as “an Oppressed White Man” would use Fido Dido as his icon, since Fido Dido is a pop culture icon used outside of the United States these days.

Then your friend is not ready to have a mature discussion about equality.
I’m going to break down to you why he’s not ready.
(Let’s assume this “friend” is male, just so I can have an easier time writing this.)
As White people, they have unique “options” of the following:
Moving away to a place where it’s exclusively White so they don’t have to think about racial issues.
Can choose not to talk about racial issues with their friends & family because they unknowingly selected people that don’t get pushed to discuss this issue.
They can get up, go anywhere and when they go to bed, race is the last thing on their mind.
They are purely ignorant of it. That’s the way society conditioned them to think so it leaves them thinking that “we can get past race and at the end of the day, we’re going to be alright!”
PoC on the other hand… we get up, it’s get thrown in our faces. It’s in the news, it’s in media, it’s in our every day lives. We are so saturated with the “race card” theme that we eventually become “immune” to the shock, unless it’s one of our White friends acting up.
So, getting back to the options… as White people, they have the ultimate option of choosing to IGNORE race issues. It’s why so many people are willing to give George Zimmerman close to $150K and looked deeply into Trayvon Martin’s life, digging up evidence that has nothing to do with the facts of the case to build up Trayvon as an evil Black teenager on the lose.
The guilt your friend feels? That’s reality talking and he rather not face reality. That’s what some White people feel… and guess what? At the end of the day, they have the option to tune that out. They go to bed and think “I’m going to be alright!”
People of Color will NEVER have that option unless we get more White people to feel the way we feel.
So, he might feel guilty and dirty about “Racial guilt”. But he can clean himself. We, on the other hand, BATHE in it everyday, and not by choice! And tomorrow, we’ll bathe in it some more.
And until more of them are willing to get dirty, we’ll always be the dirty ones.

Q:Basically, whenever I get into a discussion about race I notice and interesting disparity between me and my white friend. We both want equality but when I bring up racial discrimination he shoots back with "at least you don't turn on the tv everyday to racial guilt" which makes me wonder if that is a false equivalence or not. I want racial equality, he just wants to stop feeling guilty.

“some of the stuff is basically wrong”… what stuff? You don’t want to “get into an argument with me”? So… basically… you are doing this…

“You know… YOU’RE WRONG! Even thought I am not going to tell you who I am, or say what you’re saying is wrong, I am here to tell you that you sir are quit(e) rude with the stuff you said.

I have been known to be wrong in the past and I have stated when I was wrong. I am not the typical blogger who’s going to not learn from his mistakes. This is why even the bloggers I respect stands up to me when I said something wrong.

But getting back to you, Mr/Ms Gray… If you’re not going to engage me, why bother talking to me? You think you’re special?

Here’s what I do to special people like you… I say…

Q:That last ask sounds very much like they're having a go at this blog and trolling y'all.

fallopianrhapsody

Probably.

But being a student/activist of mental health, I don’t take chances.

The words really scared me and this is not the type of behavior I aim to encourage.

But seriously, people, don’t troll me like that. It’s not funny.
