TSA Accused of Racial Profiling During Airport 'Chat-Downs': Is Racial Profiling OK?
Read before click on link. (Trust us, it helps)
So, we joined a site called “SodaHead” years ago. We answered one question and forgot about it. We get daily updates via email, and we must say, they usually ask for “pop opinions”. We figured that the site is targeted towards White American audience due to the pop-cultural appeal. So, we look at this site basically to shake out head at it. But hey, it’s not for us.
Every once in a while, it does ask a serious question. But on the serious questions, they only give you two extreme answers and almost never middle grounds.
Today, this came into a newsletter. We decided to check it out. Even thought the polling numbers are small, here are the results so far:
55% said yes.
So, we decided to see why. However, of all the opinions we looked at, this one caught our attention the most.
In some cases racial profiling is necessary. I used to get upset with racial profiling when I was young because it seemed the police and store owners always targeted young Black Men. After enough young Black men targeted me (stealing my car, breaking into my home, stealing my wallet, etc.) I began to understand because in order for me to stop these things from happening to me I myself had to start racial profiling my own people. Never once was it a white that committed these offenses against me,
You must understand that offenders use racial profiling to pick their target many times also.
I refuse to allow offenders to hide behind “you’re racial profiling me”. If you are innocent, go through the simple process so that we all can remain as safe as possible. Let the DAMN TSAs do their job to help keep us safe while we’re miles in the air, is that a much to ask for? (source)
We don’t believe in racial profiling. However, we are concern when people start to show opinions like this. The “oh well, I might as well give up my personal rights just to show that I’m innocent. I matched the description.” The minute we all start to comply is the minute we might as well start thinking we’re less than human.
