Public Shaming: #WhenISeeAObamaBumperSticker: A Grammatically Incorrect Hashtag Trend For Racists -
For most of Monday, the following hashtag was trending in the United States:
#WhenISeeAObamaBumperSticker. Interesting…
@JDun1989, the guy who started the hashtag, probably should’ve paid more attention in class as the grammatically correct way of putting it is “When I See AN Obama bumper sticker.”
Anyway, the point of the trending topic was to yuck it up with tweets like “I know they are a dirty liberal! lolololol.” Now there is plenty you can criticize Obama for, whether you are on the left or the right, but it became quite clear where this hashtag was going once these tweets started rolling in…
Hmmm. These tweets are incredibly specific in terms of it’s descriptions pertaining to certain racial stereotypes.
“Oh, come on Mr. Public Shaming Tumblr blog. You’re trying to see racism and it’s just not there. I think you’re overreaching!”
I’m not but don’t worry! There were a few *brave* souls who wanted to make it very clear…
Yup. These #WhenISeeAObamaBumperSticker tweets? Totally not racist. Totally.

A police officer beats on black youth during the violence that erupted during the “I Am A Man” march (Memphis Sanitation Strike). Larry Payne, the 16-year-old in the background, was killed by police later in the day. 1968.
That’s not even a full life to me….and African Americans went from fighting being called ignorant, lazy niggers to being ok with being called ignorant and lazy niggers as long as they had enough money in their pocket to follow whatever trend was on tv…..
Amazing and disgusting at the same time…
Ali Esteem: Studying for my History class and I noticed .... -
Isn’t it funny (when I say funny I mean ironic) that the places in New York becoming so gentrified mostly by white folks actually became so cultured and predominately black in the first place because white people didn’t want blacks coming to the North with their new money coming from participating in war to invade their “precious” neighborhoods. So being practically banned from white towns made black invest in their own neighborhoods they were used too (ex.) Harlem, eventually Bedstuy letting it become such a gem. The gem and rich history (along with being cheaper than other expensive parts of the city) is the reason many whites are now attracted to these here that once was “dirty, ghetto, low, too black” Sooo, once again everyone loves the creative social life, artistic expression and brilliance blacks have to offer but no one actually respects blacks.
Look at the damn circle of racism yall.
The Devils are Here: How many times are we going to give White People the benefit of the doubt? -
“they’re just ignorant”
“they don’t know any better”
“they know not what they do”
I wonder if by many of us (people of colour) saying this, we are admitting that we are morally superior to White People. It’s like we obviously know we are equal and should be treated fairly but we don’t expect White People to know this, so we give them the benefit of the doubt when they say or do racist things…almost like we’ve accepted that some of them are just incapable of being able to fully empathise with people who are different than them or accept that, in the end, we are all the same.
Plus most of the time we (especially Black People) are told to be patient, non violent, and willing to basically hand hold White People towards accepting us, even if they respond with violence, strong resistance, and overall indifference to whether we succeed or fail.
When are we going to stop letting them slide, though, and hold them accountable for their ignorance, no matter if it’s intentionally or unintentionally?
Normally, I don’t celebrate milestones like this. But 1K followers is a lot of people. So, thanks for allowing me to be one of your many editorial sources.
You could have selected anyone, but I’m humbled that you choose to follow me.
On May 6, this tumblr officially lasted one year. And yet, I wasn’t able to celebrate the birthday of the blog because of problems with business. However, it seems that I weathered that storm (for now).
I wanted to announce and do some special things for the one-year anniversary (or birthday? Not sure what to call it). But I decided to wait until my ACTUAL birthday to do that. (June 1)
But I wanted to say a few things about the direction of this tumblr. This is a Tumblr blog and will always be one. So, I’m not planning on moving this blog off Tumblr in the immediate future.
The Tumblr/Yahoo deal from what I understand is going to be just like the Flickr/Yahoo deal. Tumblr will still be an independently run, it will just be under Yahoo ownership. So with that being said, I am not naive. After all, the first social media site I’ve ever been on was Firefly. (This will officially showcase my age)
And then, there are people outside of Tumblr that wants to see this to be “More than just a Tumblr”. I thought about it and decided that maybe there’s a point to that and will explore how to make it so. I like to be “organic” when transcending while remaining true to the “roots” if you will.
So, in the meantime, while I’m exploring this idea, I will inform you that What Whites Will Never Know is now on Facebook, as part of the “More than Tumblr” plan. Hopefully, we can build a community there as well so that we can inform the general public.
I would say “Let’s start a movement”, but that’s so overplayed. I didn’t start this Tumblr just to point out things, but hopefully to start something. So I’m going to say “Let’s try to start an honest conversation”.
P.S. - There’s nothing on the FB page, so feel free to say “hi”, share something… or simply “like”.
P.P.S. - It seems that some people don’t want their opinions posted on Facebook, for one reason or another. I never understood that. So, I will only post “original” material and will try my best not to post reblogs. I can’t read every single disclaimer and this is a “public” Tumblr. If you want a post taken down from Facebook, just ask nicely and I’ll remove it.
More than ever I am beginning to rear my angry head at these so called black elites. Spewing the same white racist bull shit, that the now grandchildren of racist, aka generation colorblind x uses for their ” solution ” to the black plight. I am sick of the nose turned up, why aren’t you doing anything for the black population , this activism ain’t like the civil rights era, circling around in the sphere.
Here is a fact that some of ya’ll may not want to hear….. We are doing something!!! The racism of the civil rights era has evolved into something more discreet, it isn’t the bold letters that states whites only, but it is the neighborhood that once black folks move in property value decreases. It is the microaggression symptoms where white folks are continuously threatened by your sight, your position, your presence, and continuously do things to deny what is rightfully yours. This world of racism is a more discreet world, and your strategies arent successful.
Black Elite, you may be up to your head in phds and may be fawned over by the world, so you may not understand these things, but know this! Our anger is real. Our experiences are real. When we tell you about a gah damn system , it is real. This life we live is real, and your fake white washed, ivy league, institutional, civil rights solutions are not helping us. So get off of your high horse and come down to these people you so love to sneer at to create real change and dialogue, because it is WE who will change this world, it is US the loud talkers who will be the foot soldiers. So you put your respectability, white gaze , attitude up, and listen!!!

I’m really not understanding dating people based off race. I’m all for genuine love, in whatever form it takes, heterosexual, homosexual, interracial, whatever but people who feel they’ve made some type of accomplishment because they date solely interracial…I just don’t get it.
You say “fuck racism” but declare yourself #teamwhiteboy. How white girls are just your preference but you “can’t stand black bitches”. Self hate is something else. Why not be with someone you think is attractive, smart, ambitious, etc., regardless of color if you really want to say fuck racism?
Oh and white, black, Asian, male or female, having a preference or liking a feature that may not be prevalent in your race is one thing but flat out REFUSING to date within your race is just crazy to me. Like seriously I love everybody but this goal in the black community to have mixed babies with “good hair” is not what’s up. Not that there is anything wrong with mixed people of course.
Race is social not biological, we as black people need to stop perpetuating this misconception that we’re inferior because we’re black. And if you do have mixed children stop teaching them they’re superior because of it. But you know people are going to do whatever these are just some of my thoughts.
Real Black Power!
